Titans Death Toll

[spoilers for Infinite Crisis #4]

In last week's Infinite Crisis, Superboy-Prime attacks Superboy. Superboy calls on his Titans allies to subdue his Kryptonian doppelganger. The misguided Superboy-Prime inadvertently decapitates Pantha and slaughters Baby Wildebeest and Bushido; He then freezes Red Star into crystal ice and rips off Risk's right arm before being pulled into the Speed Force by the combined might of the super-speedsters.

It's been confirmed that Pantha, Wildebeest and Bushido are really most sincerely dead. Red Star, however, still lives... which is good news for fans of the Russian super-hero. As for Risk... we should all start calling him Lefty Driscoll.

Among the Titans' missing, Tempest is MIA; Atlantis was attacked by the Spectre, who was driven mad when he lost his human host. As Spectre razed Atlantis to the ground, Tempest and several Atlantean mystics unsuccessfully tried to combat him. With Atlantis destroyed, only Tempests' tattered costumed was found - leaving his fate in question.

Wally West, his wife Linda and his twin children raced to parts unknown in Infinite Crisis #4.

Stay tuned for more Crisis carnage... we aren't out of the woods yet... not by a long shot!

How is it "confirmed" that Pantha and Wildebeest are dead? (just curious how this is official -- did the IC author confirm this?) Well, I felt really distraught by how they died at the hands of such a pansy. I really thought that Pantha and Wildebeest were interesting personalities throughout Titans Hunt, and were never given more than a marginal place afterwards. The TT cartoon series Wildebeest is also a favorite of mine. I was hoping the comment about the "recently deceased" at the end of IC#4 might mean that their deaths never take place once the world gets made over. I am just upset that once again heroes are being killed for shock value - like Lilth.

Geoff Johns [writer on infinite Crisis] has confirmed the deaths of Pantha, Wildebeest and Bushido.

There are plans for Jesse Quick in 2006!

And don't get me started on the senseless death of Lilith...

    I agree!

Plus I liked Pantha (and even Bushido)

To comment on an earlier topic, thanks for noting that Jesse Quick's going to be back. I'd very much enjoy if she and Jade were to team up, just like Jay and Alan and Barry and Hal did as menfolk in their day.

But the deaths toll in Infinite Crisis was totally uncalled for.
