"The Robin" in The Batman

The World's Finest over at ToonZone have once again provided an exclusive first look at upcoming character designs for the fourth season of the WB Series THE BATMAN. Only this time, the character they've featured is... Robin! But that's not all-- Comics Continuum also provided two images of the new character, as well as a few snippets of information from their interview with supervising producer Duane Capizzi. It seems clear that the design is an amalgamation of the styles from both TEEN TITANS and THE NEW BATMAN ADVENTURES. Scott Menville will be providing the voice, so fans of the TEEN TITANS animated series can apparently rest easy knowing that at least one part of the show will live on!

Wait..that's not a good thing! It means TT isn't continuty with the DCAU but THE DCAU.

Oh, with that Robin design, I think they're just freeloading off Murakami

Dude, relax... Murakami freeloaded off of the Robin design from the early 90's Robin comics. The Robin costume is like any other superhero costume. You can change it slightly so that'll fit the look of your show but you can't make a radical change or else fans will cry foul. There wasn't too much THE BATMAN show designers could do.

Am I the only one who sees the biggest flaw with the Robin design being proportions? I mean, the head is flat out huge! And those feet are way too tiny. They're like twigs he stands on, it's like someone took a dead tree, flipped it over and turned it into Robin.

It'll probably look better animated, and hopefully this is only a preliminary sketch they'll improve on. If you ask me, stick with the steel-toed boots.

I agree that his feet look really tiny, but I also think the steel toed boots were a bit too much.

It would be nice to see some characters which aren't so manga-ish, for a change.

I am also glad that Scott will be doing his voiceagain...
it'll probably look like a BEFORE THE TEEN TITANS show!
