    With all due respect,

People here seem to forget how Brad Meltzer resorted to chick-bashing in Identity Crisis (and for those who may not have noticed, IC's also got some very cleverly concealed anti-American and "Stockholm Symdrome" messages in it to boot. Yes, they're there, even if you can't always see them). Yes, of course there are quite a few prejudiced writers on the loose in comic books and other forms of showbiz already, but that doesn't mean that we the audience should have to put up with them, and Meltzer, I want to make clear, crossed the line in a way few others have succeeded in doing.

My point? Simply put, because he wrote such a vulgar little screed back then, that's why I'm not buying the book. Am I supposed to just forgive and forget what happened yesterday on the day after? Let me be clear here - as a comics fan, I decided that I was going to have to take some harder lined standings, because otherwise, how am I supposed to make things better if I just forget what DC did wrong yesterday by plunking my money into their pockets today for a book written by a writer who did something as crude as Meltzer did? Even if he doesn't go overboard the way he did in IC, that still doesn't excuse his act of yore, most certainly not if he didn't apologize and admit that what he did was wrong.

If it hadn't been for the way that DC resorted to un-heroic approaches this past year, to say nothing of forcing these "changes" down the throats of the readers, it's possible that I wouldn't have minded a bit, and they would've had me buying joyfully. But, because they had to stoop to lowbrow moonbat tactics, that's why, simply put, no sale here.

I'm not buying the new series if Meltzer is the writer, even if I'm the only one in comics fandom who's willing to say so. Not that people like him would care, sadly.

Well, Metzler said he's leaving after the first 12 or 14 issues.

Maybe after that we'll get a better writer. I'd like to see Kurt Busiek. I liked his run on Avengers in the 90's. Or bring back Grant Morrison.

I'm also not a big fan of this roster. I'd liked to have seen Fire, Ice, Batwoman, Dr. Light, and Firehawk on the team instead of Black Canary and Vixen.

Can you imagine if Ice and Batwoman hooked up? Wonder if Fire would like that?
