Ostrander's Titans Tragedy

from wizarduniverse.com: The writer explains how Black Adam’s merciless vendetta deals DC’s premier teen team a devastating loss in World War III:
War is about to break loose in the DC Universe, and no one is safe—not even the junior superhero team, the Teen Titans. In a series of one-shots being released April 18 in conjunction with issue #50 of the weekly series 52, the DC Universe will feel the wrath of Black Adam. We sat down with writer John Ostrander to talk about World War III Part 3: Hell Is for Heroes, in which we’ll see one of the Teen Titans die.

So more than one of the Teen Titans will die!?

OSTRANDER: You’ve been told one is dead. What happens to some of the others? Not pretty. Everyone is going, “Oh, they’re killing another Titan!” It’s not just that we’re killing them, we’re pounding on them. And it’s meant to be horrific. You’re meant to see what happens when characters like the Teen Titans go up against characters like Black Adam. They are in way over their head. The fact they are attempting to slow him down is what marks them as heroes. But what happens when you get into something you aren’t equipped to deal with?

I’d say it’s going to be a gore fest with the Teen Titans, what do you say?

OSTRANDER: Yeah! I’d say so. What I can also say is that it’s not pretty when the Teen Titans manage to round up a quick group to go up against Black Adam and he just basically tears through them like tissue paper. I mean, they try to give a good account for themselves here because they have some pretty powerful characters, but [Black Adam] is virtually out of his mind with what he wants to do.

It will most likely be Terra II. WHy else introduce a new Terra in Supergirl, or show Geo-Force using her powers in JLA?

Rose is gonna bite the dust. Mark my words. You'll see.

Seeing as how World War III takes place before the past year of Titans comics, it obviously can't be Rose. I agree with McGee as Terra II looks like the most likely suspect.

But why worry about it? Judging from the current Birds of Prey issues, death in the DC Universe is irrevelant. Gabriel must have blown his horn in some unreleased storyline because it seems like everyone is coming back from the grave these days. If Terra II really was the one killed, she'll be brought back in full health in a future issue right besides Omen, Kole, Panthra, Wildebeest, and the original Hawk and Dove. After all, the writers seem hell-bent on ressurrecting every other deceased hero, so why not them?

    Yeah. I was right.

Terra II, or I guess it really is Terra I, since Geo-Force calls her his sister. I guess that makes the new Terra that appeared in Supergirl Terra II and not Terra III.

Oh, and Young Frankenstein, too. But isn't he like the original Frankenstein monster? Can he really die if he's made from parts of different bodies?

regarding the teen titan that is supposed to die in May who do you think it could be.
It could be one of the missing year titans, or it could be starfire.
I sure hope its not going to be duela dent, they have to go into an explanation about who she really is, and lets not forget they already gave her a new look. I'm pretty they are not going to kill off Rose, she has so much potential

The one I would bet money on would be Flamebird. I still highly doubt it would be one of the OYL Titans if only because the way they worded the solicit plus the cover, it would seem to be someone with more ties to Dick and Donna than any other Titans. That would rule out all of the OYL who were not previously involved in the team. Because that makes me think it would be an older Titan, it would almost make it be Flamebird, with Red Star, Mirage, and Argent being possiblities. Starfire is one as well, but I'd like think whomever drew the cover would have the sense to have Dick be more broken up than Donna (and both, plus Vic and Raven, should be way more sad if Kory was killed than that cover would indicate).
