The New Adventure of Superboy

From the DC Blog:

"You’ve read FINAL CRISIS: LEGION OF THREE WORLDS #4, right? If not, please shut down your computer, walk briskly to your nearest comic shop and buy it. Then read it. Understand why we’re doing this? Excited? I hope so. Now click on the headline — or that handy “More…” link below — for some art that will blow you away. Do not say we didn’t warn you. Because we did. Numerous times. I’m saying it again because, by nature, I’m a paranoid creature: SPOILER ALERT.

OK, now that we got all that out of the way — Superboy is back, and starring in the pages of ADVENTURE COMICS, which hits in August from writer Geoff Johns and artist Francis Manapul. Not only are we bringing you some amazing news, but we also have a first look at Manapul’s jaw-droppingly gorgeous artwork, including covers and prelim art he created in preparation for the assignment."

Hm..... Geoff Johns and Francis Manapul on Superboy? Ok, I'll have to pick this up!

YES! I wandered over to The Source earlier and this absolutely made my day! I went from not even thinking about Adventure Comics to dripping with anticipation for it! Superboy's return was the highlight of my day yesterday and it's the highlight of my day today! I just wander if it's a solo thing or if he'll be joined by others. Since it's called Adventure Comics, I'd think he'd be joined by others for sure.

All that's left is a coherent explanation of why he's back. Because so far both Ice and Barry Allen have come back for no plausible reason I can recall.

    Nice artwork.

Yeah Met, I just flipped through the Legion of 3 Worlds #4, so I might've missed it, but they didn't really explain how he got back yet, did they? Bart's return was explained in the first part of that issue, but not Conner's yet.

Plausible explanation: he is a DC character.

So when do we get to see Conner back in a newly revised Titans series written by Johns?

"So when do we get to see Conner back in a newly revised Titans series written by Johns?"

Immediately, I'm sure. It's my opinion that Johns is a diehard Conner fanboy. (Seriously... his previous Titans issues were all about Conner, Conner, Conner.)

@Anonymous: It's not just your opinion - in the Titans Companion 2, Johns says that if Superboy came back, he'd want to hop back on the Titans train as soon as possible, preferably with McKone again.

Matt--I knew how Bart was back; they caught his essence in those lightning rod thingies. ...Hey, it doesn't make any REAL sense, just comic book sense. But Ice, Flash and now Conner get nothing..

Does this mean Johns is writing for the wrong reason? The Titans had always been a family-oriented comic (yes, I know they aren't related by blood, but c'mon!), and it seemed like if the writers wrote Titans because they liked all Titans and had great stories, they'll do great. Johns would be better off with a Superboy title rather than writing Titans in hopes to write Superboy (like I said, Conner, Conner, Cassie, Conner... who's Vic? Who's Gar? Never heard of Kory!). Etc.

Was it really that hard to see how Conner came back??? Starman dug up his body, put it in one of those chrysalis chamber things in the Fortress, left him there, and fixed his body using dna from lex.

    Atleast that's what I thought.

But yeah, I'd kill to have Johns back on Titans!!!

Thanks for the explanation Mike, I don't live in the US so I have to rely on secondhand info.

It's cool bro, that's what I got out of how it was presented anyways.

Its great that Conner is back from the dead and able to use the Superboy name again. And I'm equally glad to see Bart Allen back from the dead and behaving more like Impulse (at least that how he was in the 3 Legion book, which made me smile with happiness).

Of course this just goes to show you that super-hero deaths mean absolutely nothing since everyone comes back eventually (cough/Batman/cough)

Only thing that sucks? Tim's no longer going to be Robin, but instead moving to Red Robin, which makes me question the likelihood of him rejoining the Titans. I looks like our hopes of getting the old YJ/Titans group together (Wonder Girl, Robin, Superboy, Impulse) again have been dashed.

Don't get too excited. Didio will find a way to screw it up. He always does.
