Preview: Titans #13, Deathtrap, p.4

Newsarama has an exclusive preview of the penultimate issue of the Titans, Teen Titans, Vigilante x-over 'Deathtrap'

TITANS #13: Written by Sean McKeever; Art by Howard Porter; Cover by Andrew Robinson "Deathtrap" part 4! The Titans, Vigilante and now the Teen Titans all get roped into Jericho's insane plot. Can their combined forces halt their foe's master plan? This riveting crossover concludes in VIGILANTE #6!

This is getting pretty bad...

Uuugh. It's really starting to strain credulity that TWO Titans teams can't manage to stop ONE body-hopping baddie. Especially when Wally rushes in, and, rather than disarming Joey at super-speed, or knocking him out-- he stops dead to talk with him.

And "evil Jericho"is such a misfire as a plot idea, as a serious A-level threat, and as a dragged out multi-part crossover. Do we even know "who" is driving Joey's body? Which psychotic personality? And what their motives are? Even psychos have motives.

No wonder McKeever left if this was the direction of the books...

The Titans books need help so very, very, very badly...

I never warmed up to Jericho, and thought making him evil was about the only interesting thing anyone's ever done with him. But this is just over the top, even by recent DC standards.

Right now, I want two things: good creative teams on the Titans titles, and this entire evil Joey plot to come to an end.

Yeah, that Wally scene made no sense at all.

Go take the gun apart without Joey even knowing you're there, then save the hostage, then take him down.

He's the freakin Flash. He'd be able to do all of that before Joey could blink!

Yup ... and with that preview, it almost looks like we might lose another Teen ... sheesh. How does one get to write for DC? :)

This is a travesty. I have been following Titans since I was 13 years old. To give you an idea and thanks to anonymity, I will be 40 in October. Therefore, I was around when Jericho was introduced and stuck out Titans Hunt. This s/l makes NO sense to me. Nada...zip! The Titans' characterizations are deplorable and unrecognizable and probably for the first time in 27 years, I am realistically considering dropping these titles altogether.

Jericho's best use was always when he played Nightwings silent partner. He allowed Wolfman to basically write some "solo" stuff with the Nightwing without worrying too much about the other character with him. Jericho wasn't very over powering if there weren't other meta humans around to take over and he had no dialog to write. I liked this crossover so far. At least his being evilish makes more sense than the first attempt at it. I'm hoping the whole Jericho plot is more elaborate than that preview makes it or the ending is going to be a bummer. It's been a nice re-intro to the three comics involved. The only odd thing is the writer involved is leaving. Why try to re-introduce two team comics with a crossover if the writer not in it for the long haul on either comic? Why is DC so lame?
