Krul Talks Blackest Night: Titans

Krul Talks Blackest Night: Titans at Newsarama:

The writer said the three-issue Blackest Night series will stand on its own -- without crossing into the regular Titans series – but "obviously, the effects of Blackest Night will be felt in the main books."

But the mini-series is also important because it tells the stories that Blackest Night isn't able to take a break and tell in detail, Krul explained. "Blackest Night is such an epic story that has grave (that's a pun right?) implications for many in the DC Universe," he said. "These other titles allow the opportunity to dig deeper and explore the conflicts and challenges the Titans, for instance, will face during this ordeal. It's literally like we are taking a small segment of Geoff's Blackest Night story and shining a spotlight on it."

Krul said there are a lot of candidates for Black Lanterns among the Titans because "I guess as a team, the Titans have suffered more than most others."

....if it's such an "epic" story, why is it only three issues? It takes Marv Wolfman five to write a masterpiece with the second "Who is Donna Troy?" and the Judas Contact, while its climax was in five issues, took over ten issues to take place. Let's not even mention the Crisis Marv wrote.

Thing is, you can't write an "epic story that would be felt in the mainstream issues" with three issues (well, unless you're Marv Wolfman).

I'm pretty excited to see what Krul has in store for us. I like Tempest and he seems genuinely excited to be writing him, and since it's a Blackest Night lead-in, you know he'll play into the mini-series as well.

I just want the regular series to get on track with a regular writer/artist so we can get some nice fluid stories going and kick the series into high gear!

Oh, and to the Anonymous person...

He said the main Blackest Night series itself is epic... so if you look at what Geoff Johns is doing in GL, 40+ issues building towards this... I think we can go ahead and call it epic right now.

Just so long as the story ends with Terra back to being dead and buried, I will be satisfied.

I wonder if the friends and loved ones of the team will return as well. I'm hoping to see zombie Dusk and Terry long!!!

I must completely agree with Matt. If they can get a steady writer and artist, we should be looking at some actual entertainment.
